The Federation of European National Statistical Societies
The Federation of European National Statistical Societies (FENStatS) aims to foster cooperation and dialogue among national statistical societies across Europe. It serves as a collaborative platform for exchange, fostering regular and joint interactions among its member societies. Its mission includes promoting innovative statistical research, supporting high-quality statistical education, strengthening the dissemination of statistical culture, and promoting excellence in professional statistical practice.
A key objective of FENStatS is to organise European conferences and scientific sessions in cooperation with national statistical societies. These meetings offer valuable opportunities for statisticians from academia, industry, and public administration to exchange state-of-the-art ideas, methods, and applications. They also help strengthen networks and identify emerging challenges and opportunities for the statistical community at the European level.
FENStatS also plays a crucial role in the European Statistical Accreditation (AEUStat) framework. Several member societies offer accreditation systems that recognise statistical professionals who demonstrate high standards of competence, ethics, and continued professional development. Individuals interested in applying can find complete information and application instructions on the FENStatS Accreditation page.
Through its coordinated actions and the shared commitment of its national statistical societies’ members, FENStatS contributes to reinforcing the role of statistics as a core discipline for data analysis, evidence-based policy making, and scientific and technological progress in Europe.
